DDR/ITG updates
« on: January 29, 2007, 06:21:27 PM »
ITG came out with a new patch (26/1/07) that limits all custom songs to 2 minutes lol, tell kapow not to update someone =p.

Also this which is old - > http://www.betson.com/images/pdfs/coindrop_issue2.pdf

200-300 songs? typo? or could it be that Konami heard enough bitching about how rushed/bland blah blah SN is and what it could have been.

They said they were 'acquired' not shut down. I would imagine Konami saw the potential cash from another series and didn't want to kill it completely.

I doubt they'll make another one tho.

mmmm perhaps, but we'll have to see. with this r23 patch, it definately means something is happening in the roxor camp

UPDATE: With the release of DDR Supernova CS JP, japan AC had FaxX, Felm, HDV and Chaos unlocked for regular play, theres no word on DS machines yet though

It's my best guess that the hardware came back from Roxor with r21 already on it.  A couple of weeks later and it would probably have been r23.

ITG3 was pretty close to completion I think.  They should secretly release it piece by piece in secret patches on the ITG patch page.

I am very sad. I did not know Joel had been dating someone since Saturday.

I'd like to contribute otherwise to this conversation but unfortunately I am out of the loop with the ITG know-how.

We can whinge all day about what with think Supernova should have, but it's not going to happen. Konami has no further interest in fixing the game.

I'd love to be proven wrong, but I don't see it happening.

You... FORGOT to put your seat belt on??

Wow! That's one of the most awesome ways to fail that I've heard of yet!

Also off topic, I bought Children of Mana. Joel has a copy as well, so now there is no excuse not to join in the fun.

Buy a copy...

On topic: I'm agreeing with Ebe, I don't see the DDR scene making a comeback. The market just isn't asking for it, Supanova isn't exactly a huge hit, especially when you compare it to mixes in the past.

I believe Supernova was pretty much everything it could be. It was a long time between updates for Konami, and I honestly don't think they really put the effort into it.

I do hope we get more DDR releases, and that they're of a similar calibre to a 4th Mix or EX. But every now and then we have to settle for a MAX  ;)

in reality unless we as a massive army whige constantly to konami itself, supanova wont have anymore fix ups
Who knows if konami is aware of the problems if only a handful of people have whinged? even though they have supernatural powers of hearing they arent mind readers...frak you konami!

Konami of Japan hell Japan itself has been over DDR for a long time, Popn/DM/GF/IIDX >>>> DDR, it seems its Konami USA/Euro that's trying to keep DDR alive now, just look at Ultramix and er whatever DS smeg that is out =p. Although a crapload of songs came from Japan's CS mixes a lot came from the other regions too.

Also on that point on Japan not giving smeg about DDR too much they still have the best version =p.

So anyway after ITG on Saturday I really want to play again, but we need SN fixed and cheaper plz, perhaps we should try (once againnnnnnnnnnnn) on getting John to care........................

Price has never been an issue for me, but I know it's an issue for a lot of other people, which in turn makes it an issue for John, which in effect ends up making it an issue for me anyway.

I want the game to be supported. In order for it to be supported, it has to be making money. In order for it to make money, people have to be playing.

We've been through this a hideous amount of times. Price is the issue considering john has done some maintenance. But until he stops being stubborn and changes it were allll in the same boat with sharks circling us in a vicious cycle...jump out the boat and price bites you in the ass and you come squealing back

we've also discussed the ramifications of john lowering the price many times as well.

in any case the community is sort of burnt out at the moment, at least in brisbane. no community, no support, no money, no potential price reduction.

it would be good if a 10th DDR AC came out this year or next year though, looks like SN is going the way of the carrot, underground

We're kinda in the end-of-holidays lull here too. And people are still kinda 'hung-over' from Xmas.

Or at least I am. Especially cash-wise.

It might pick up in the coming weeks.

Of course... we could try and run a comp...

Well we all know whats happens when we propose a comp ............... < see those dots yeah thats right =p.

We always come up with the same ideas and arguments/comments whatever, doesn't stop the fact that nothing happens and its always been that way, should we give up, no but I'm sure no one would be suprised if nothing changes =p.

Eddy comes around end of April/ beginning May I guess that would be the time to see if anything has changed.

It's a consumer/retail world. If you love the game that much you'd pay the price to play it.

If you're not paying the price then obviously you're not too excited about it. That's pretty much what the market is saying at the moment. They are over it. Konami isn't blind to that. Back in the day you would pay that amount, you would play heaps, competitions would be a sucess because many people would participate.

Not many people do anymore.
Not many people play heaps.
Very few people are paying the price for the game.
The market has just spoken.

stop reading to many of your market books. you should know these people and hte dedication they have to the game. its more a factor of there financial situation, yes some of us are better off and can afford the luxory of playing it. for those who cant they have the right to winge. after all they do play juat a bit more then you do. and before you say anything this isnt just an attack but more of an observation.

john supplies machine, we get excited and pay $2 for a bit
where not excited as much, johen leave price up high

this is NOT spply and demant

John knows it isn't doing as well as previous DDR's, so I believe he just leaves it at $2 as to try and make the most out of it ($$$ wise) if it does get played.

Anyway someone tell Tops to fix their machine already =p

Joels right in that matter, some people cant afford $2 a game its getting ridiculous at that price. To john its a marketing problem and an income problem for him now but for us its a budget problem. Ebe said before the holiday hangover is still lingering.

Tops machine has been rponounced dead, and they have attempted at almost every part of the machine to fix it but to no avail. The big boss came in so obvieously they are doing something about it

Being less excited is another way of saying there is less demand.

Remember back in the days of old where $2 was the default price and DDR was incredibly popular. I think most of us had even less money back then. I know I did.

UPDATE: Apparently the 4 boss songs arent meant to be played normally :(

From DDRUK:
Quote
There is an unfortunate bit of news to report. It appears that the boss songs in DDR SuperNOVA (and presumably DS SuperNOVA) are not meant to see the light of Arrownormal play:

Quote: The reason why they have 4 "boss songs" is because of the E-Amuse software. Since the machines in the US do not have that capability, we are without the other songs.

No news of using unlock codes either.

i dont remember that to much, we always had a better deal, more stages or better price (like ddr ex $1 cause it was a copy and john couldnt change any options), i dont think ddr max was that bad either $2 for 4 stages if i remember corectly
