Replay Brisbane City is set to become Timezone Brisbane City, as we all know.

We do? ???

I had heard about it, but that was about a month ago, and I hadn't heard diddlysquat since and just forgot.  Didn't realise it wasn't a widely known fact, sorry!

I haven't heard about other Replay stores, FWIW.  All I heard pretty much was Replay is going to be a Timezone, all but signed on the dotted line.

they did indeed.  Timezone's currently aiming to re-establish themselves in Australia again, people at Arcadepimp have had insider reports from old friends who are now working for a new Timezone opening in Sydney, and John has made a deal with Timezone to use their card and management system.

Namco is also stating they'll be running another International tournament for Tekken 6 in conjunction with Timezone.

So what's happening to Replay then? Is the whole company being changed over or will there still be replay arcades?

Anyone got any info? Having the old Timezone card system will be nice - no more having to worry about tokens getting nicked if you leave them next to you on the machine while there's "shady" people around ;D

Is there a set date of when the card-swipe system will come into place?

Second machine is gone, apparently so they can put another version in it.  Everybody wants 4th MIX Plus.  Everybody is thus awesome.  (why did they have to take it away to put in a board?  LIES!  DECEIT!)

Except if it's 4th MIX, it's called Ninzaburo, not Furuhata's Theme!

Also, Replay were installing some massive cabinet at lunch shaped like a UFO or something in the space where Deal or No Deal was before, and that's moved to the side, and the stuffed bear groping machine moved to where SN2 was, and SN2 moved to where SN1 was.  So where does ye olde cabinet go if it comes back?

I only saw it being built, and very early on, and the stuff was everywhere.  It looked to be pretty big, though, and sorta PPP cab shaped.  Or rather, maybe big as four PPP cabs.

Ninzaburo, not Furuhata's Theme!

I was wondering what was up with that - I have a 4th mix sim called Delight Delight Reduplication and it has both of these songs. Same song. Same steps. Different name.

UFO

I saw it last night. My god was it gigantic.

Delight Delight Reduplication was a very, very old DDR sim...almost as old as DDR itself.  Long before DWI and Stepmania...

Played it today - expensive, ridiculously so, but amusing - kinda made me dizzy...

Yeah I played it with Shannon. Much more fun with two people, I think.

It's kinda hard because you're always looking DOWN.

The 'Hard' was easy, so all DDR players can go straight to that. I unlocked the hardest (Insane?) mode while I was there, but I didn't have time to try it. I suggest someone does, I'll be studying law until Tuesday :D

Had a chat with John today.  He told me when they bring the cabinet back shortly - or rather, when they bring -a- cabinet back (I got the impression it could be any cabinet) - he was thinking about putting ITG2 in, because 'people could play any song they want, and they could put their own songs on the machine', to paraphrase - which is good, definitely.  I told him failing that, "a lot of people" wanted 4th MIX or 4th MIX Plus - but to try to get ITG2, because it obviously negates the need for 4th.  He also asked about the price/etc at Tops, and he thought the 3rd MIX cabinet had 3rd MIX in it, so I pointed out it was actually Extreme with the wrong thing on the top.  Dunno if that'll affect anything.

If people put their own custom songs on the machine - which I understand involves debian linux or some smeg - I hope there's some sort of controlling of the content, because we wouldn't want to drown in categories and I've heard putting lots of songs on slows down the load times to things like 10 seconds.  With the latter point, I've heard a simple RAM upgrade will fix it - but it's an old computer inside, a Celeron I think, so it might be slightly more complicated.

Oh, and two Silent Hill: The Arcade cabinets were installed this afternoon where Initial D 4th Stage was.  Didn't see much.  Also, Pascal put in the unlock codes on both Replay's and Fun House's cabinets, but it didn't unlock Paranoia Hades in Encore.

slax linux, which is based off slackware, not debian (from my understanding). basically you use a bootable usb drive and yea...

hacking the machine seems simple enough, but there are risks >_>. plus you gotta set up the songs in a specific way (bitrate, sims etc) its a pain...and you gotta know what youre doing first (knowledge of command line is essential)

took wendy, kevin and i like 5-7 attempts to put the 2nd unlock code into the machine, while it only took 1 pass on the machine upstairs :S just something i noticed

and yes...no paranoia hades :(
