Let's not overreact. Nothing's been said for certain. But they have moved some of the machines downstairs.

I like the new position DDR is in, way better than cramped next to the wall.

Also if you read this thread you'll see why they are moving things downstairs, not the other way around. Not that anyone is meant to know why (although I didn't say anything, I was actually told BY a customer, hahaha).

such a shame they didn't put the machine at the front. Then again...not everyone is brave enough to play in the open space.

DDR used to be at the front in years gone by. Come to think of it, even up to Supernova 2 was it near the front, but then Replay became Timezone and the machine started to get moved around to various places
Quote from: B1uEM4oM4o
however tbh it just isn't good enough. you cant argue with this, players like me, dan, kevin etc. who are all a lot better than you all agree with this. we all get smeg and it's really annoying. Dan gets pad greats like crazy. I dont even bother maing there, its a waste

It's been all over the shop for as long as we've had DDR. The front's usually reserved for whatever is likely to draw in customers, and at the moment DDR's just not that popular.

We did discuss moving it to the front for the last competition, but I think that would have required more work and given us less space.

This thread sure went somewhere interesting... Just a few things that I think need to be said, keeping in mind that the truth is this - Timezone Albert St is undergoing renovations, and at the moment, closing the upstairs section and relocating other machines is the most financially sound solution.

Now, for some friendly advice for people that work for, well anyone, really.

1) customers are not generally knowledgeable about the high-up business decisions of company owners. They're not good sources for accurate information, and believing them to be reliable sources will leave you disappointed most times. If a customer does tell you of some perceived  "inside information", the best course of action is normally to speak with your superior, not to take it as gospel.
2) Starting or spreading rumours (whether you believe them to be true or not) that are damaging to your employer, is not smart. As an employee, most people will be more believing of what you say, as "one of the guys that works there told me! It has to be true!" No, really, it doesn't have to be true at all.
3) If your employer shares information with you and tells you that it must remain confidential - for example, that customers aren't meant to know - breaking that confidentiality agreement and letting customers know is really stupid.
4) assuming that you do want to believe customers, spread rumours, and/or give away confidential information, posting them on the internet where they remain as proof for all eternity, is incredibly unwise.

In regards to having machine at the front, years ago we had the machine/s up front but they had to be turned down a lot because the customers across the street weren't enjoying listening to repeated J-pop blaring out towards them.

Since some of this was probably targeted at me (considering I work there etc), I'd like to add that I didn't speak a word about anything I was told by anyone in the company (actually noone told me -anything- at all, I just rocked up one day and was told there wasn't anyone being rostered upstairs anymore).

I think I repeated what a customer told me (about upstairs closing) to like, one person, who asked me about it, and I said "I heard from another customer that ____, although I have no idea".

Everyone seemed to know (that is to say, customers - no employees told me about anything) before me, hahahaha. I still have no idea what Timezone plan to do with upstairs, or if it is closing or renovating, or anything (since noone told me, I guess I'm not really one who needs to know anyway - it doesn't really concern me). All that bothers me is less shifts to go around =[

But yeah, I can assure you that whatever people know did not source from me. Considering I still don't really know (I don't really care that much tbh). Although clearly someone said something to someone, since like 181238 people seemed to know before I did, despite the fact I do work there, hahaha. Not that I'm really someone of importance who would be told things like the plans for the future of the store, anyway. I just clean things, take money, smile, etc. =P

Although having said that, I'm pretty sure people would have figured out something was going on upstairs, since all the machines moved down, and upstairs lights are all turned off, and the door is locked. It'll be interesting to see exactly what happens up there.

I didn't know, and although it was suggested through other people first, having you say it here confirms it more than any other post could.

I never got to try the bowling or laser tag :(

Just putting it out there, it would be good to have an announcement of the top floor closing down so the people who always wanted to go but didn't, had a chance before it shut down. Surely there would at least be a last minute rush before it closed. It makes sense financially to me to at least let people rush in to pay money for it while they still can. I personally would want a bowling game at least.

(especially against Pascal since it looks like I might have a chance against him)

Um Kylie, they've already emptied the top floor and locked the door and that's why the rumour started :P and all that bowling/shooting equipment was either leased, or is probably already sold off, if it's going...

Of course, nobody's considered the possibility of more innocent reasons why the top floor is closed, like carpet removal, absestos removal, removing either the bowling alley or the laser game but not both, updating the lanes, or John is building a fort out of pillows and doesn't want it disturbed.
