DDR SuperNOVA - DrumMania V2 - Now in Brisbane!Friday saw the installation of Dancing Stage SuperNOVA in Replay. This is the first Dancing Stage release we've had since the original back in 99, but with this world-wide standard release of DS/DDR, this certainly poses no problems. There are some known issues with the game, with the developers expecting to release an arcade update soon. There's also talk of memory card support for non-JP regions. Settings as of last night were $2/4 tokens for 3 songs, no Joint Game Premium. This leaves some people a little cautious to play, especially those who prefer Double play, but is to be expected for any new title. Relpay Manager John has been speaking to people in the arcade, and we may see a slight adjustment to the pricing soon, as well as long-overdue repairs to the pads and cabinet. V2 also arrived for DrumMania on Friday, but unfortunately not for Guitar Freaks. It's possible this was only purchased as the DM-V board had failed and could not be repaired. Settings remain at $2/4 tokens for 3 songs. With the promise of many new songs and returning favourites in both DDR and DM, many of the old skool regulars are back in the arcade. Get on in to Replay and check out the latest. Just a tip though - don't challenge Luke to a game of Battle Mode :/

Eddie Back In AusTeam members and friends of Edward@RTF will be pleased to hear that Eddie will finally be returning to Brisbane this weekend. It's been 2 years since Eddie was able to join us for Japan's Golden Week holiday period, so come on out to Replay over the next 2 weekends to catch up with him and his family. As always, with Eddie in town, it's time for a competition: PSSP Return - SAKURA - SAI IIIEddie has planned for a Performance and Perfect Attack competition on Saturday May 6. Due to some difficulty in getting hold of John over the last few weeks, this has ended up being very short notice. We will go ahead with the competition and see how it pans out. If nothing else, it'll be a great excuse to get everyone together. Posters will be up in Replay tonight, so spread the word. For more details visit the PSSP19 page of Eddie's RTF Website.

GC's Night of Fire + IJKF ForumsMany of you will remember the world's largest and least useful DDR machine in Melbourne's Galactic Circus. With 9 large screens arranged 3x3 and positioned a long way away from the dance platform, it was impressive but impractical. In a tragic accident that DDR players can only discribe as 'tragic', poster feri on the Independent JKF forums reports that the machine has burned down. "story is that some large sign above fell down and stuff ignited... so ddr was litterally burnt to a crisp." A new machine is believed to be on its way.
This is probably a fair time to introduce the Independent JKF forums. IJKF is a group based in Sydney, and has sparked a new DDR community of it's own. I had a chance to meet up with KMD, the group's driving force, while on holiday in Sydney in October. The group is also dedicated to running tournaments, and is very interested to hear about competitions held in other states. It's a very exciting time for DDR in Sydney, with a lot of new players getting organised and pushing themselves to be great players. The Sydney scene should be the scene to watch in coming months. The IJKF forums are open for nation-wide DDR discussion, so all players are welcome to stop by and chat.
